Unable to view toolbox

I am trying to update a form in my database and the Toolbox icon is greyed
out and not working. When I click on the icon nothing happens.

I have reset the form design toolbar and restored the
defaults. Allow built in menus is checked in the startup options and i have
used the shift key on opening. All to no avail. This has affected all access
databases not just the one i am trying to modify. Please help.

Hi, Sib.
I am trying to update a form in my database and the Toolbox icon is greyed
out and not working.

The Toolbox icon is enabled only when the form that has the focus is in
Design View. At all other times, this icon is either disabled or does not
appear on the context CommandBars.

Hi Gunny,

Thanks for your response.

The toolbox is greyed out when the form is in design view. I have no idea
what is happening here.

I thought that i may have disable something when creating custom toolbars
for a particular application however this problem is happening with all
access databases. I have created a new blank database and tried to design a
form but it is still happening.

cheers

Hi, Sib.

Has this PC always had the Toolbox icon disabled, or is this a recent
change? Perhaps the installation of Access was incomplete or a recent
installation of other software overwrote or reregistered some of your Access
files. If you don't get any additional suggestions, you might try to
uninstall Access and reinstall it again, but ensure that you use the "custom
install," not the "typical install," so that you can select all features for
installation.

Hi Gunny,

This is a recent problem since customising the toolbars on a particular
access database. I can get around it by customising a toolbar and adding the
toolbox icons to it. I'd rather know why it occurred and how to fix it though.

Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate all advice/suggestions.

Hi, Sib.

This is a recent problem since customising the toolbars on a particular
access database. I can get around it by customising a toolbar and adding
the
toolbox icons to it.

Reseting the built-in CommandBar should have put it back into the default
configuration so that when the form that has the focus is in Design View,
the Toolbox icon is enabled. Your most recent post makes it sound like you
aren't talking about the built-in CommandBar, but even so, a custom
CommandBar will show the Toolbox icon enabled when the form that has the
focus is in Design View.

I can't think of any way to disable the Toolbox icon when the form is in
Design View unless you've written VBA code that makes it this way.
Obviously, that's not an accident, because you (or one of your colleagues)
would have to do it intentionally.

Hi Gunny

Now I feel like an idiot!!!

I was reseting the default properties of the FormDesign toolbar (as this one
shows the toolbox icon).

I reset the Toolbox toolbar and hey presto! it is working like a dream.

Hehehe

Sorry to waste your time on this.... i really appreciate your help.

I have experienced a similar problem. ( by the way, I have tried all teh
suggestions in this and other threads on this site to no avail).

My toolbox is available but the dropdown box (combo box) and navigation
buttons tools are unavailble (present but dimmed and unresponsive). This
seems to have happened to me between saved vesions it affects all my access
applications on this PC but is not present on my lap top (the same CD was
used to install )

I have also run the following code at the windows run dialog box
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\dao360.dll"

Successfully and uninstalled then installed Access.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance
