Unable to use regedit ot command prompt

When I try to run regedit it opens momentarily and then
vanishes. Also when I try to go to the command prompt I
get a message that says Windows cannot access specified
device, path or file.

Any suggestions
 
Try the following:

Click Start, Run and enter CMD.EXE

If that returns the same error, try COMMAND.COM

If either of these works, type in COPY C:\Windows\REGEDIT.EXE
C:\Windows\REGEDIT.COM

Then type in C:\Windows\REGEDIT.COM to run regedit.

Also, update your antivirus software and scan your system.
