Hi,

Since yesterday that I installed the Spybot-search & destroy, I am unable to
update my Windows. When the Microsoft update site trys to check my system,
suddenly I get an error message for reporting to Microsoft. And
afterterwards, the Explorer gets teminated from the internet. I appreciate if
someone could help me to fix this problem

Oftyen, the removal of damaging spyware will leave damaged system files. Go
to start/run, and type:

SFC /SCANNOW

Dear Mark,

I have just done that. Widows used my original CD and verified everything.
But problem remains the same.

Hi Shams,
If you are unsure from the Below please send the exact Error message and did
you run Spybot in Tea Timer Mode?.
Did spybot find spywares on your system?.

Try with the reg.bat first and Reboot your machine and see if that will
solve the issue with updates.

Hi nass,

A strange thing just happend. After rebooting, I suddenly noted that, due to
previous setting, my windows automatically started to update. ( security
update for office 2007). But when I tried to update mannually, the error
window appeared and sent the information to Microsoft. It was too quick and I
coudn't copy the content.

Yes, Spybot found a Spyware in my system and cleared it up, but my main
proctection software is Bitdefender, which I have temporarily deactivated its
registry protection ( due to testing the Spybot and preventing confusion.

Yes, both Tea Timer and SD Helper (Internet Explorer bad download blocker)
are active. But I'm not happy about the registry control of the Spybot. For
example, during the installation of a new software or delition of a key, a
small window with unclear buttons opens up that I can't make any sense out of
it. Thus I have no choice but to clear that warning box, but then another
small box opens and says " the registry access was denies". Although I
didn't want it to ne denied. It dosn't ask my permissin to allow access and
remember.

Also, due to the ealier recommendation, yesterday, I installed the AVG
Grisoft and scanned my computer for virous and it was clean with no virous
detection. This software is also currently on.

Hi Shams,
Try to uninstall one of the Avs and reconfigure the Spybot S&D to not run in
Tea Timer Mode by doing the following:
Open Spybot S&D click Tools >> Resident:
Under this option uncheck the Resident Tea Timer:
Resident protection status
[ ] Resident " SDHelper"
[ ] Resident " Tea Timer" <= uncheck this to run the program in none Tea
Timer Mode.
Run Disk Clean Up and Shut down then Restart the computer and see if the
error will be logged in time stamp for the logging.
Do you have a GPO on this machine?.

Even you can see what on your StartUp and see if there is something
suspicious and Try to remove from startUp.
Try to have only one Anti-Virus program running at one time on your
computer, you are the only one can decide that both of them will do a good
job, but what your experience with both.

Dear nass,

I ahve deactivated the SD Helper and the Tea Timer. I have also uninstalled
the Grisoft, cleaned the disk and the rest, but to no avail. But I don't know
how to see the startup and don't know what is GPO on my machine. My machine
is Dell Precision 380 workstation with Windows xp professional SP2 in it.

I don't think the three Microsoft support papares that you posted apply to
my case. I don't get any of the error messages mentioned on those papers,
which comes from Windows Update. The error that I get is from IE7: Internet
Explorer encountered a problem and need to close, which then sends it to
Microsoft. As I have informed you , yesterday, I have automatically received
the Security Update, from Microsoft, due to my automatic update setup.

Best regards

Dear nass,

The above two error reports relates to this problem and I hope it would give
you enough information for helping me to fix this problem that has occured
since the installation of Spybot.

Hi Shams,
Try to uninstall one of the Avs and reconfigure the Spybot S&D to not run in
