I have a program called holiday snowflakes screensaver 1.2 when i try to
uninstall it, i get a message:C:\WINDOWS\unins000.dat does not exist. I'm a
computer neophyte, and i'm trying to clean up a bunch of stuff. Can anyone
help me?
Thank you

Sandy,

It sounds like the uninstall file got nuked somewhere along the way. So
you'll not be able to uninstall. However you can delete the screen saver
file and remove the entry from the registry to get that software out of the
'Add/Remove Programs' listing... if you need help, shoot a reply!

Best Regards,

Find it on the web, reinstall it, that should restore the uninstall
capacity.

G. Samuel,

Thanks! And yes I will need help. Don't I need to back up or make a copy of
the registry before I start working in it? How do I do that? The simplest,
step by step instructions will br greatfully appreciated. And I guess I
should ask, what happens if I make a mistake and want to undo it?

Don't play with the registry! R-E-I-N-S-T-A-L-L THEN UNINSTALL it.

It is available at www.softpedia.com

Sandy,

The article in the following MS KB link has complete instructions regarding the
backup, deletion, and restoration of the subject registry elements for Windows
XP.

Good luck.
