Unable to shutdown

G

Gary

Sometimes after I click "X" to shutdown Outlook 2007, I still find in the
Windows Task Manager the process of OUTLOOK.EXE occupying about 50M RAM. So I
have to end it in the task manager. But when I launch Outlook a second time,
it informs me it was not properly shutdown, and needs to check the the data
files or whatever. But sometimes the "X" button works. IS there anyrhing
wrong with my outlook?

Common causes of Outlook failing to shut down properly are likely the
following:

Antivirus software that actively scans incoming and outgoing email - you can
safely disable this without compromising your security since your real time
scanner should catch anything suspect if it's kept up to date
Add Ins and COMs may hold Outlook open, not all of them are compatible with
Outlook 2003 or 2007.
Antispam software
Fax software
Synch software for a handheld
