Unable to Shut Down Windows

I'm suddenly unable to shut down Windows properly. I have
to manually power it down. I've made sure no programs are
still running. I recently downloaded SP2 but I don't know
if that could be causing the problem. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I think it is to do with SP2 - I have the same thing - it
sits for ages at 'Windows is Shutting Down' - mine does
eventually turn off - after about one minute - it used to
be seconds - only started doing that after SP2 -
presumably something to do with Drivers - but why? -
what's different?

Control Panel/Power Options/APM (you may have this option)

Enable APM (Advance Power Management) the computer will shut down
automatically.
