Unable to set NTFS permissions after Upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro

I just upgraded a new laptop from XP Home to XP Pro and
although the disk is formatted NTFS, I am unable to
view / change any NTFS permissions. The Security tab is
missing completely.

Is there a way to enable XP Pro security without
reformatting the drive and performing a clean install?

You could use an F8 safe mode boot, or shut off simple
sharing at bottom of View tab in Folder Options.
