Unable to send or receive mail due to a busy .pst file

I cannot send or receive any mail. The error that I keep on getting is
somehting to the effect of that the Outlook2.pst is busy and could not be
accessed. Another program may be using it.

How the heck do I resolve this?

What programs might you be running on your machine that may be accessing the
file?

None that I can think of. Everything was working fine then this happened. Now
i had this same issue whe I first bought this computer, This one came with
the 60 day trial of 2003. Well I already had my own full copy of Office XP. I
decided that I was not going to mess with 2003 and just use XP, well i tried
installing XP and had all kinds of problems, to include the same one that I
am having now. I had to restore the whole computer just to get any on the XP
off. Since then i have been using the trial version of 2003 adn everything
has been running smoothly until the other day. I did not download anything
new or do anything differently. Aslo, I am still within the 60 days.

Here is the exact error message that I am getting:

" The file Documents and settings\HP_Administrator\Local
Settings\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook2.pst is in use and could
not be accessed. Close the application that is using the file, and then try
again. "

Are you running any sort of indexing software that might be scanning through
the file?

OK, I am an idiot, what is indexing software?

OK I tried that and no good. I did notice that whe I try to get mail another
icon comes up on my task bar. It looks like a white envelope or two. Wjen i
click on it it ay that it is syncronizing. WTF

Hmmm, even more interesting. See if you can find out what's synchronizing
(PDA software?)

Yeah, tell me about it. I tried finding out could not get anywhere, plus I do
not have a PDA. I looked in my task manager and did not see anything that
would be doing it. I even shut down all of my security programs to no avail.
I ahve beed without e-mail for roughly a week now. I really appreciate all of
you assistance, but I am hitting a critical stage now.

OK, this is a long shot and a lot of work but can you list all the processes
that are running on your machine?

Would it be possible to take some screen shots and send them to you via
e-mail using my Yahoo account?

OK, not sure if I can figure it all out but it's worth a shot.
