Peer to Peer
Linksys Cable/DSL Router with no additional firewalls.
Computer 1 is XP Pro and Computer 2 is XP Home. These computers can see
each other ok and go out on the internet.

Computer 3 is XP Pro and use to work on the network fine. It can still go
out on the internet however, it has stopped seeing the other computers. I
also get access denied and path can't be found, however there is no server
on the network. I can ping to them fine and map a drive to computer 1 as
\\192.168.1.20\ my documents which works fine.

I have changed the name of the computer and the workgroup name but no
improvement.

Any Ideas,

Thanks,

Joe

I may have stumbled upon something but I'm not sure what it means. Using
the wizard to setup a home network I just change the Workgroup name then
proceed to the end and as it is trying to complete the process I get a
spooler error. The process completes but this doesn't make sense since I am
not doing anything to the printers.

Any ideas anyone?

Joe

Hey Joe
I know you said you don't have a firewall but here is my story and it may help. I actually have a very similar environment as yours (linksy DSL Router/Modem . Because of a recent incidence of a mass virus invasion on all 5 of my machines (4 XP pros, and 1 Win2K Server), i decided that i would put McAfee and Zonealarm on all machines

Well all of a sudden (now that i think about it, it was after my Zone Alarm Pro trial ended), one of my machines couldn't see any of the others via the workgroup networking and vice versa. To make a long story short, Zone alarm on the machine in question, didn't have the other machines in a local zone. So the problem was firewall administration..
