Unable to reverse SteadyState saving permissions

I previously installed SteadyState to put strict restrictions on a child's
account, but after finding the features limited and some not operating as
they were supposed to, I removed the restrictions and then SteadyState.
However, it left the account, with some saving restrictions. Although
files/folders can be created from Windows Explorer, when running children's
programs which save data such as a typed in name, points earned etc., they
either show an error message, or run smoothly but without retaining the data
for the next time.

Internet Explorer was also gone from the Desktop after removing SteadyState,
and although I could easily create a shortcut there, I want to return it
there properly. The same also applies to the Show Desktop icon in the Quick
Launch menu.

Just wondering what hard disk protection have you got enabled? If you
want data to be saved you should choose retain data option
