If I rename a Shortcut, it no longer points to the Application but a entry in Documents and
Setting, that no longer does any thing and the Icon is now grayed out..

This is with XP home, I have fixed this in the past but I can't remember how.

Thanks

When you right click the file and go to rename if .lnk shows up such as
filename.lnk make sure you include the .lnk when you rename it.

Thanks,

That was the Reason, But it I don't think this was the problem in the past, is this caused by the
NET OS Thing..?

It's caused by unchecking 'Hide extensions for known file types' it in
folder options..view tab.
