unable to read forms with read only permission

Hi,

I inherited a MS access 2000 database and are having problem configuring
the permission on the it.

There are only handful of users should have write access to the database
and the rest of the users have read access. All the users with r/w
address are able to look at everything within the database. However,
users with read access are only able to read the tables, reports and etc
but not the forms.

Can someone advice what I can do to resolve this problem?

Thanks

Are you talking file and network permissions? If so, all the users need read,
write, create, and delete privileges to use the database.

To control what a user can do while inside the database, you need to set up
user-level security and give permissions to them there. That can be a LOT of
work.

Access permissions dont' work. Upgrade to SQL Server.

I'm sure that your local Community College has a class on SQL Server
Security.

Just use what works-- in this case Access security doesn't work well
enough for real world usage.
So if you care enough about your data to use security-- then just move
to SQL Server
