Hi All,
I have a Windows XP laptop with a Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network
Adapter that I use to connect to network. I have no problems
connecting to the internet or exchange server using this laptop but I
cannot PING this computer from any other computer. I get a request
timed out message.

I have tried some things
tried using a NIC instead of WLAN - No luck
Tried reinstalling File and Print Sharing - No luck

When I do net view \\<machine_name> I get a System Error 53 network
path not found. I am not able to figure out what is going on.
I am desperate at this point.
TIA

Disable the firewall. If the firewall is enabled, it can block ping echo
response.

If you want to do net view, you must have File and Printer sharing and
NetBIOS enabled for the adapter you are using to connect to the network.

Hi,
Was finally able to figure this out. I had CISCO VPN Client on my
machine, which had a firewall turned on. Turning that off fixed it.
Thanks
Neelima
