Unable to open Windows Explorer and other programs...

I need help with an issue I can't find resolution to
anywher else. For some reason I have been unable to open
Windows Explorer, My Computer and Control Panel. I don't
know what caused it to happen. Just one day I was unable
to open any of the programs I listed. Its weird that I
can see my system if I use the Run command and browse for
a program to run, but I can't open Explorer. Thanks in
advance to any help anyone can give me.

Check for malfunctioning hardware. I just had a similar

problem. My computer showed 0 objects, but would sometimes
display normally after several several minutes. Start up
was slower than before. CD-RW showed occasional blinking
light. Using Control Panel to troubleshoot said device was
functioning normally. It wasnt. I disconnected the IDE
cable and the system booted faster and my computer showed
what it should. Installed new CD-RW and allis well.
