I recently got rid of an older computer and am attempting
to load the Outlook PST files (that had my contacts,
inbox and sent folders) that I burnt on a disk into my
current computer. The old Outlook was a MS office 97
version and the new Outlook is from MS Small business
2002. When I use Outlook import/export and go through
the process to go ahead and add duplicates to my folder
list I get the error message that says "File access is
denied. You do not have the permission required to
access the file (pathname*.pst.)" Is there a setting
that I can use or is this information lost?

Copy the pst file to your HDD, remove the Read-Only attribute, and then in
Outlook go to File-Open, do not use the Import function.

Thank you for the assistance. It appears that the file
is corrupted. It is showing a file size of 0 KB. It
looks like it is lost. Perhaps I screwed up when I saved
it. Thanks anyway.

1) Copy the PST to your hard drive, if it's not there already.
2) Remove the Read-Only attribute
3) Don't import. Use FIle>Open>Outlook Data File. Drag-and-drop or copy
items to your currently active folders.

Perhaps you didn't close Outlook before copying it.
