Unable to "open site", never asks for password

I'm trying to OPEN SITE in FP2003 and it never get's past the "helper"
telling me that the site might be password protected. I've got the password
but it never asks me for it. Would this be how you would open a "live" site?

you should get the password prompt as per this screen shot
http://members.iinet.net.au/~admurray/fp_logon.htm
make sure your "site properties" shows the URL (also on the above page).

The logon box should come up if you work on a local site then File >
Publish, or if you Open > Site and put the http: address in to the live
site - you should still get the same prompt to log on.

I've seen in the past web input fields that included a mini text editor for
input into that field and when the data was submitted, the formatting went
with it (in html I assume) (This would be found in an admin section of the
site on an editor/add page)
