Unable to open new window after FrontPage 2003 Install

I have XP SP2 with all the updates
I have just installed Office 2003 SP2 with no problems
When I install FrontPage 2003 it disables IE "open in new window"
and ALL new window links on web sites.
Uninstalling FrontPage 2003 does not fix it.
I had to restore my system to get IE working again

Hi Tim,

Seems like you fixed the problem yourself. This occurs because of shared
files between IE and Frontpage (mshtml for one). Seems the solution is to
run Windows update only after installing all software on a new computer so
that the latest versions of files come from the Windows update.
This I think is a problem for the FrontPage support team - something in
their install is installing earlier versions of common files.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the input, BUT, I fixed the problem only insofar as I was able to
restore the system to a point before the FrontPage 2003 install. I still have
a new FrontPage 2003 upgrade sitting on the shelf that I can't install
without breaking everything.

If you know of a way to sic the FrontPage team onto this problem and get a
fix out (and let me know!) I'd really appreciate it.

Tim

Hi Tim,

I am only guessing but if you have the original windows XP installation disk
it should have SP2 on the disk. I am thinking that if you re-apply the SP2
after your Office install, it may work.
