unable to open email it cannot be received by the server, why?

Email subject is showing in the inbox, but I'm unable to open it. A message
in the reading pane states that this item cannot be displayed, this item has
not been received by the server. What should I do?
 
Do you have webmail on your ISP's website where you can try to view the email
to see if there's anything odd about it?
