Unable to open Access file located in network drive

When I try to open a file on an external hardrive connected to my
peer-to-peer network, I get the following error message:
MS Access cannot open this file: This file is located outside your intranet
or on an untrusted site. MS Access will not open this file due to potential
security problems. To open this file, copy if to your machine or an
accessible network location.

Note: I can open every other file in this network drive but for some reason
I cannot open an Access file. I'm working with Windows XP and the version of
Office is 2002

Any feedback is much appreciated.

To open an Access database you need full access to the directory where
the file is located. That includes read write delete modify and create. I
suspect you do not have all these rights for the target directory.
