unable to log in with local user profile at start up

My computer reacently crashed and when i tried to reboot it i get the error
that window was not able to access my local user profile due to insufficient
security right or corrupt file and teh detail at the bottom of the error
window says invalid Inpage Operation. Then the window proceed and log me in
by creating a temp user profile which everything i do will not be saved. Does
anyone know who to correct this problem? I am running winxp home edition.
