HI.

I am unable to load Windows XP on startup after I have
installed Norton Internet Security, ran live update and
restarted my PC. A window containing the error
message "Isass.exe - System error : An invalid parameter
was passed to a service or function" kept appearing and
upon closing it, my PC will restart itself. The furthest I
can go is to see the Windows XP logo and the error
message.

Is there anyone out there who can advise me on this
problem? Thank you.

If your trying to install XP by doing an upgrade from
your current version of Windows you should turn off the
AntiVirus program. Ever thought about a clean install of
XP?

Thank you for your prompt reply. Sorry but perhaps I
wasn't clear about my problem.

I wasn't trying to install XP but just restarting my
computer as instructed by the Norton Internet Security
program after running its Live Update. However upon
restarting the computer, I could not get back into Windows
and I would get the error message appearing instead.

I did think of re-installing XP again but I have some
important data in the computer which I am afraid would be
wiped out after the installation. Would love to exhaust
all possible remedies before attempting such a measure.
Thank you.
