unable to load tcpip.sys on bootup

I am getting an error message:

Stop c000026c unable to load device driver tcpip.sys on
bootup.

I am able to boot to safe mode but not safe mode with
networking.

This is a stand alone workstation and is not part of a
network. Does anyone have any ideas?

Brook,

Since you can get into Safe Mode you may want to run Chkdsk on the system to see if it reports any issues. After that I
would try replacing the Tcpip.sys file, which should be located in %systemroot%\system32\drivers.

Where do I find the file tcpip.sys to replace the one in
my drivers folder?

Is there any way to just uninstall/reinstall the tcp/ip
protocol from Safe Mode?

Thanks,

Brook

Brook,

If you don't have another system to copy it from you will need to expand a copy from the CD. Both Expand.exe and
Tcpip.sy_ can be found in the i386 folder on the CD.

For instructions on how to use Expand see the article below.
