Unable to install XP

Hi,

Having interminable problems trying to install XP SP2 on a new build
using an Asus P5B Deluxe/WiFi, Intel E6400, 2GB Corsair TwinX-Cas4, NEC
5170A DVD attached to the JMicron controller, and Maxtor DiamondMax
80Gb HDD (attached either to JMicron or ICH8R).

Managed to get into the initial stages of the install by setting the
JMicron to AHCI mode and supplying the driver on diskette via the F6
option. The install program allows me to partition the HD but as soon
as I press enter to begin the actual file transfer I get a BSOD naming
an error in setupdd.sys. With the HD attached to the SATA port of the
JMicron the XP installer doesn't find a HD so this is no use.

Cheers for any help
Mat

Try setting the memory at a lower clock speek. I have heard of the
TwinX memory causing such problems. Use the Motherboard BIOS to lower
the memory clock rate a notch or two.
