Unable to install vb.net 2002 on Win XP SP 2 machine

I am trying to install vb.net on a machine with Win XP SP 2 installed. When
I insert Disk 1, I get a prompt to insert the "Windows Component Update
Disk". I insert the disk and click continue and the process terminates after
about 5 seconds, with no error message. How do I solve this?

Virus scanner and system protection software is turned off?
