Posting from another user by the name of David:
â€I figured out what the problem is. It's the Microsoft Wireless Mouse. If I switch
the mouse to one with a tail the screensaver works.â€
then David posted again
â€I got a fix. I changed to connection to the computer using the USB to PS2 adapter
that came with the mouse. Now I get the screensaver. I would be interested to find
out why this works.â€
Eliminating the space character from the screen saver filenames fixed the
screensaver startup problem on my XP Home installation. (Per other posts,
Power DVD and/or wireless mouse was not my problem.)
If your screen saver filename(s) contain space character(s), make copies of
all associated files in their same folder(s). Files generally reside in the
C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Edit each copy’s filename to eliminate space
characters. Do not alter or delete the original files. If there is a .log
or other text file that contains associated paths and/or filenames, edit this
file also. Select the new filename in the Display Properties Screen Saver
drop down list. Perhaps it will work properly this time.
Thanks! Now i know finally why my screen saver does not engage. You're the
only person who has helped me to understand the problem. Thanks again for
your help. Sami Sigelen (2006-01-30, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
