I'm not sure if this is an XP or PowerPoint issue, but here goes…I created
the attached presentation before migrating to XP. When I sent it to anyone
who had migrated they could not edit it. An error message said "the file is
read only and cannot be edited because it contains embedded fonts." Now that
I have migrated to XP, I can't edit it either. Lisa needs some of the images
from the PowerPoint, but neither she nor I can copy/cut or do any editing.

I pulled most of the images from outside sources and didn't save the photos
on my PC. Do you know how we can fix this?

Rhonda,
Do you have all the service packs applied to Office? There are reported
problems in this area that have been fixed.... To tell if you have the
service packs applied, open PPT and go to Help--> About Microsoft
PowerPoint.

The fonts are standard fonts, Times and ariel... its just weird

Times isn't a standard Windows font. Times New Roman is.
Windows and PPT are fussy about these silly little details. <g>

If you also used Arial Black, that could explain the problem. There's a bug
*specfically* related to that font; fixed in the latest Service Pack.
Definitely go for that.

Fixed in the latest SP for Office 2003. But Rhonda is using Office XP. Do
you know if that version's Service Pack has this fix yet. (Asking because I
don't know!)

I thought it was fixed in the latest XP Service Pack, but looking at the
dates I guess it wasn't.

As I recall, the latest service pack for Office XP *adds* the @*#$*^ embedded
font poke-in-the-eye-with-a-sharp-stick trick to PPT but probably doesn't
include the fix to the problem that it cases with Arial Black.
