Unable to download application from trusted source ...

Hi,

I am trying to download a free application from a trusted source - but
continually get a Windows security alert saying 'my security settings do not
allow this file to be downloaded'. On inspection it is being treated as a
'restricted zone'? Some weeks back I successfully downloaded the application
to my PC without these messages - so it appears to be something introduced
recenty (possibly as a result of a Windows Update, which I carried out last
week?). I have tried adding the URL to 'Trusted websites' - but to no avail
....
Any idea's what the problem may be - and how do I resolve this ...?

Thx,

Don-

delete it from the restricted site as well.

also try tools, internet options, security. under internet either set the
level to a something normal. or click custom scroll down the list to
"downloads" and make sure "file download" is enabled.

tiiim,

thanks for the prompt reply. The address (or variant of) does not appear in
the restricted sites list ..... This is what is confusing me : ( There are a
huge list of IP addresses identified, and obviously I cannot be sure that a
particular IP address is matched to the site I am trying to access ....?

Fyi - the application I am trying to download is iTunes.

Thanks again for the help. Would appreciate any further comments you may
have ...

Don,

Does this happen to all the sites added to the Trusted Zone? Also, does the
Status bar say "Restricted sites" when you visit the iTunes or other sites?

itunes.com = 17.254.3.50

apple.com = 17.254.0.91

check for variants around them. do that before we cont.

Ramesh,

Thank you for your note. Actually this is quite interesting:
When I go to www.apple.com I simply get the normal 'internet security zone'.
However once I hit the iPOD/iTunes tab, the security zone changes to
'Restricted'??

hi tiiim,

There are no 17.x.x.x addresses identified at all. The addresses are
predominantly 6x.x.x.x or 2xx.x.x.x??

sounds like then you have something wrong in your restricted side then and
you need to find that ip address out then.

tiiim,

Actually I may have mislead you slightly (apologies I am not intimately
knowledgeable in thius whole area) ...
The restricted icon appears with the 'eye' in the bottom right hand corner
....The security zone remains as 'internet'. However, I believe I have made
some progrss of sorts (although its still not working : ( ) ..If I click on
the 'eye' it gives me the URL of privacy report identifying a single site
where cookies are blocked. This is:
switch.atdmt.com/action/apple_itunes_download ...
Interestingly, *.atdmt.com IS on the restricted list. I have removed this
but is still does not work?? There are other variations of *.atdmt.xxx ......
Should I remove these also, or is there a more effective way to go around
this ...??
