Unable to display the user selection dialog (null)

Whenever i try to add a local user to the folder
permissions in xp I get this message box

Unable to display the user selection dialog
(null)
[OK]

It comes up every time i press the ADD button on
the 'security' tab of the folder options dialog.

- I am Administrator and have tried it from multiple
accounts.
- It is a standalone computer in a workgroup. It's not
connected to a domain.
- Active directory is not installed.

In knowledge base I only found 2 articles
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;267833
(wich dont apply since it's a simple home computer)

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;816818
(i'm not connected to a domain and have never seen a
object picker message.)

I found some other stuff on the internet discussing that
this could be an affect of the Nimda virus. I Haven't had
that virus and none of the fixes listed there applied
anyway.

I alose tried a SFC /PURGECASCHE followed by a
SFC /SCANNOW and it didn't help either.

I searched everywhere and found plenty of posts with ppl
having this problem but no solution posted anywhere.
Please help

I tried using a third party program Hyena from
http://www.systools.com/free_frame.htm
When i open up folder properties in this program it looks just
the dialog that pops up when you use explorer to open it. It probably
is the same dialog. But the difference is that now it works. I get the
"Select users or groups" up like I should. Still dont work using explorer though.

I'm totally cluless. Dont wanne buy a third party program just do change
access permissions on folders.

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!

*****
Original Problem
Unable to display the user selection dialog. (null
(this error appears as soon as I click the Add button!
I also have a similar problem when trying to edit user permissions within administration (under Computer Management) When editing users in an attempt to make an existing user a member of a new group, I get the following error
An error occurred attempting to create the Object Picker. An error with no description has occured
****

SOLUTION!!

Seems this error is caused by replacing the file RICHED32.DLL with a previous version. For those of you who may have used a program called Drumbeat 2000, (mabe others too) replacing the windows XP RICHED32.DLL with an older one from Windows 98SE is a required workaround for the WYSIWYG to work properly

Don't forget to delete the file in the DLL cache directory or it will come back... (create a batch file to replace file in both directories quickly
