Unable to create or edit hyperlinks in FP 2003

I am unable to create a new hyperlink or edit an existing hyperlink in FP03.
I have tried the keyboard short cut (ctrl + K), the Insert Hyperlink option
from the dropdown menu, right-clicking the highlighted text and choosing
hyperlink, and the hyperlink button on the tool bar. None of these methods
had any effect. The hyperlink dialog box does not open. I have also tried
editing an existing hyperlink using the same methods and also double-clicking
the attribute tag. I have tried repairing FP03. When that didn't work, I
uninstalled and reinstalled it... still nothing. I sure would appreciate any
help offered.

Thanks!!

I just had this same problem with FP2003 myself. It
appears there must be a bug. But instead of doing
everything you did, I simply deleted the original text I
wanted to edit the hyperlink on. Next I just typed in new
text to match and created a hyperlink.

FP2003 simply decided not to let me edit or add a
hyperlink to that particular text. So my solution was to
delete it and try again. It worked.

Are you sure you're in Design mode and not Preview mode??

Thank you very much for your replies. I am definitely in Design mode. I
have tried changing the text, typing new text, creating a new page, etc., and
nothing has worked. I can go into Split mode and type the code in manually,
and the link will work. The problem is that I need to create links in the
shared borders, and they're not accessible in the page code. Do you know if
there's a way to edit the shared borders code?

You need to edit the shared border itself.

Thanks. I guess my next question is where can i buy a nice wig once i've
pulled out all my hair?

I found the following info in the FrontPage: Programming forum:

"Open the web in FrontPage
Tools->Web Settings-> Advanced Tag (Site Settings in FP2003)
Tick the box labelled "Show hidden folders and files"
Click Ok, and refresh the site when asked.

This will show the _borders folder in the folder list.

Open the _borders folder and double click on the border to be edited.

Insert a table - 2 columns 3 rows.
merge the cells in the left column
insert your content into the table
close and save the file.

I need a left and right column and the right column to be divided into top,
middle, and bottom.

It doesn't solve my hyperlink problem, but it does allow you to edit the
shared borders code... which sort of solves my problem. hmm.

Anyway, thanks so much to everyone for your help!

We are having the same problem with creating hyperlinks. Nothing is working
and we are not using shared borders or anything else that was mentioned in
other replies. Everything is basic stuff and dont understand why it will not
work. The dialog box will not even appear. Please help!!

Since your problem may or may not be the same as Muffin's it'd probably be best if you started your own message/question...otherwise your question may never be noticed.

State the steps you are taking to create the hyperlink and any other details in the new post.
