Unable to connect to WMI

Hi,

I recently tried to use wbemtest to test the wmi service but it times out.
On further investigation although the wmi service is running if I run
dcomcnfg the my computer icon is displayed red, if I try and expand the com+
section I get an error occurred whilst processing the last operation error
code 80040154 class not registered. the event log gives me a DCOM error
event id 10010. Even stranger supposedly the com+ depends on the Rpcss
service (which is running) but it has no dependencies at all. I have tried
rebuilding the com+ I get an error as below. I don't think it's related to
permissions as the xp install is on a fat disk .
Oddly enough I installed a second copy of xp on the same machine and it
boots and works ok.
I have tried repairing system file checker and system restore but I still
have the problem with WMI, apart from that the machine functions ok.

Any Ideas Please??

Sub-component COM+ raised an exception while processing the
OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION setup message.
d:\nt\com\com1x\src\complussetup\comsetup\ccompluscore.cpp (line 565)
Error Code = 0x80040206
An unexpected internal error was detected
The COM+ event classes could not be registered.
