unable to browse web following computer standby

I am experiencing an unusual problem with my computer.

I am running a dell inspiron 9400 laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition.

The problem I am encountering is that when my computer recovers from standby
mode (such as when I close the lid) I don't seem to be able to browse the
web. This is after I reconnect to my wireless network.

I am able to obtain a valid IP address, and can connect to the internet, as
I am able to connect to Trillian and both send and recieve instant messages.

However, when I try to browse the web (using both IE and firefox) the
connection keeps timing out. I have tried disabling and reenabling the NIC
with no success.

The only thing that resolves this issue is when I reboot my computer, and I
am then able to browse the web as normal. and while this is a good short
tern solution, I would like to find a more workable solution.

I can't think of what would cause this issue to exist, does anyone else have
any ideas?

Hi
Disable the Power saving of the Wireless Card. Look at Windows Power saving,
and or any other Power saving configuration that might be provided by the
hardware's manufacturer and uncheck the Wireless (Network) hardware from
being part of the standby process(I.e. Network, and Network hardware stays
always On).
If it helps, your are "lucky", many Wireless hardware would not connect
after Standby no matter what you do

Jack,
thanks for the reply. I don't think it's a power saving issue, as I am
able to pull a valid IP address following coming out of standby, as well as
send and receive IMs. So while I think the card is working, for some reason
(possibly a configuration issue or a windows MCE issue) is preventing web
browsing, but permitting other web activities.

It also appears to be an intermittent issue, as there are times when i have
full functionality following coming out of standby, while most time i
encounter the problem. Something like 75% non functioning with 25% no
problems.
