Howdy ya'll

Here is the problem, when I right click on a folder to try to share and
click on the sharing and security tab, nothing happens. It does not matter
if the folder is already shared or not. Also, the properties tab will not
bring up the properties, I think that both are some how related. Any body
have any quick and relevent answers as how to fix this problem.

first are you using XP home or Pro?
Home does not have that option
Pro does have unless the option for "Simple file sharing" is selected. Open
my computer, go to tools, folder options, view tab and scroll down the list
of advance settings. Make sure the simple file sharing is deselected.
*using this way you will need to set the security and the sharing for each
folder you want to share.

Thanks for the reply Rafael T. Well, I am using XP Pro. I have already done
that prior to the original post. I have even tryied going into other
profiles that are on this computer and even in Safe Mode. To no avail, I am
unabe to bring up the sharing and security options from the right click.
Also an still not able to bring up the properties of any folder. Have any
other suggestions?

Have you disabled any system services?

Are there any relevant error messages in the system event log? Go to
Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | Administrative Tools |
Event Viewer. For more information, see:

Howdy Steve,

Thanks for the responce of your post to my question.

Maybe you could help me a bit more on this. I dont think that I have closed
any. When I go to the Event Viewer I see some red circled x's, located in
the system area, Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction
response from the cisvc service.

Every thing else I see, I understand.

Maybe just a bit more Help Please.

Thanks,
GVGaston
