Unable to access System Restore

OS = XP/SP2; clicking on 'System Restore' tab in 'System Properties' produces:

"An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\Windows\System 32\shell32.dll,Control_Run DLL
"C:\Windows\System 32\system.cpl",System"

System Restore Services show as 'Started' in Computer Management

Clicking on 'System Restore' in 'Accessories, System Tools' produces an
error report, which I've sent.

I haven't found a post that addresses the problem and I've looked at some
info posted in Kelly's Korner without results.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Bert! First I tried the reinstall according to the info on the link
you gave me. That changed nothing. Then I booted in Safe Mode and was able to
access S.R. That showed no S.R. points which, I suppose, indicates S.R. was
not functioning. Then I went to the 'S.R.' tab which opened O.K. I have 2
HDD's, both of which were being monitored. I turned off the monitoring on the
slave, rebooted normally and was able to access both S.R. and the S.R. tab. I
resumed monitoring the slave and all is OK.

Really appreciate your quick and problem-solving response.

You're welcome Marty.

not functioning.

The reinstall would have removed all existing restore points and created one new
one.
Then I went to the 'S.R.' tab which opened O.K. I have 2
HDD's, both of which were being monitored. I turned off the monitoring on the
slave, rebooted normally and was able to access both S.R. and the S.R. tab. I
resumed monitoring the slave and all is OK.

There's normally no good reason to monitor any partition other than the one
Windows is installed on because SR monitors' system file types.
Really appreciate your quick and problem-solving response.
