I am unable to access one particulare URL. It is
https://www.macquarie.com.au
It is driving me spare because it is my bank. I simply get the "Page not
found" error. I am able to access any other URL I like to try, including
other banks, but not the Macquarie site. It seems to be a sort of DNS
error. I have tried the following:
I have searched this group for a similar type of problem - to no avail
I have tried a different browser
I can access the site using my laptop on my network (Win 98) using the same
ISP.
A ping request reports that it could not find the host.
I have searched and examined all files with a 'hosts' name.
I have disabled my firewalls and virus checker (Trend Micro)
I find it rather curious that I know of another person that also cannot
connect to the site using a similar spec'd machine as mine. It may help if
others also cannot access the site and then maybe we can compare out setups
- it makes me wonder if there is some common software on our machines that
is causing some sort of block.
My setup is Windows XP, Wingate as my NAT (albeit this machine is the
server), Trend Micro virus checker and firewall.
Someone also may be able to direct me to low level commands I can use to
trace the dns request as it leaves and returns to my pc.
Much appreciated in anticipation
