Hi Dan,

How did you reload your OS?

Uninstall WinAmp
Do an Inplace Upgrade
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=292175

Afterward, you should install SP4, do a Windows Update
Be sure to install all of the Security Patches and those Hotpatches needed.

Download and install the Belarc Utility at www.belarc.com
This utility gives you a list of all of your hardware, software, Hotpatches and
their status. {If you have a red "x" by any of them click on the link next to it to
reinstall that
Hotpatch(es)}

Reinstall your WinAmp.

good luck,
don

I recently reloaded win2k. I am now unable to play music cd's on
winamp, windows medai player or real audio. I have a Lite-On DVDRW LDW
811-S dvd burner. I am able to access/burn data cd's & I can play mp3's
already on the hdd as well as streaming audio. Also, when I try to load
EAC, I get the error "The ASPI interface could not be initialized
correctly". I went to ADAPTEC & dl'd the ASPI for win2k, still nogo.
Tried unistalling the burner, nogo. Legacy audio drivers & media
control devices are both "working properly". Any ideas?

TIA

Thanks for the reply. I forgot I had disconnected the audio lead from
the drive to the sound card because of excessive noise (hiss, buzz,
etc), & enabled digital cd playback instead. That's the thing with
reloading the OS, it's all those little setups/tweaks/checkboxes you
forget about over the weeks/months. As to EAC, I dl'd a more recent
version & it's fine now too.
