Unable to access c:\ProgramData\Application Data\ and Command Promptproblems.

Hello,

I am using Windows Vista b5483. I am new to this OS and have problems:

1. How do I access c:\ProgramData\Application Data\? I keep getting
permission denied even though my account is already set with an
administrator access.

2. How come tab, arrow keys, and F3 keys don't work in command.com/CLI?
I miss being able to recall history and hit tab for autocomplete.

3. In command.com, I cannot seem to change long paths with cd command
like: cd "Program Files". It says: Parameter not correct - "program.

Are all of these just bugs? Thank you in advance. :)

This one got me also. If you are trying to access the standard Application
Data folder that is normally associated with the user, (I happened to be
trying to get to Application Data\xchat2, which is my IRC client) you have
to go into the following folder:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming

The other ones that LOOK like they are the application data folders are
simply JUNCTIONs, or pointers to the other. I have been wondering if MS
will have them treated more like a shortcut than a junction in later
releases, because this one gets all but the people who either KNOW, or have
a whole lot of time to kill searching the plethora of online resources that
are the reason I don't use Linux. (I like my OS simple...lol)

Hope that helps. It wasn't the exact folder we had the same problem with,
but I don't doubt that the answer is the same.

check further down the TREE for USERS and locate the data there.
Users "username" APP Data

I am such a dork! I was supposed to use cmd.exe, not command.com thanks
to a /.'er who saw my problem. I didn't know they were different
animals. cmd.exe let me use quotes. :)

Right. It is definately by design, and not a bug.

What I do hope they do, however, is TELL people about it, or change the
junctions to simple shortcuts somehow. I totally understand what's going
on, but it took me a LOT of reading and a lesson from my LFWPT in basic unix
shell stuff to figger it out.
