I use windows xp home edition , SP2, Powerpoint 2003

I am unable to open a powerpoint file created in Powerpoint 2000 with
Powerpoint 2003. I get error messaging saying "the file you are trying to
open is not a powerpoint file."

Can someone advise how I can solve this?

The file format of PowerPoint did not change from version 2000 to 2003. But
PowerPoint is not always opening old files correctly, if it comes fresh out
of the box. Did you not only install Windows updates, but also Office
updates? Service Pack 2 is the newest update for Office 2003, please make
sure to install that and then try again.
