Ultra DMA support in win2000?

Does Windows 2000 offer DMA support for the disk and CD/DVD drives
similar to that found in Windows 95.

That is, is there a similar system to speed up data transfer?

I ask because I see no check boxes to invoke DMA support anywhere and
I'm now wordering if I'm getting the best speed possible.

In Device Manager, the DMA option is listed under your IDE
Controller channel properties.

A few (mostly non-Intel) IDE controllers will not have this option.

To verify the actual/active transfer mode of the drive, you could use a PC audit
utility like AIDA32, Everest Home Edition, or some of the drive manufacturer's
utilities.

If you use AIDA32 the maximum and active transfer modes are shown for each drive
under Storage > ATA. The actual may be less if a 40 connector cable is being
used.
