UI Ribbon and User Reactions

Has anyone used the UI Ribbon in a business application such as an app where
a traditional menu and toolbar would have gone with entries like
Add/Edit/Delete etc? What was the user reaction? I am worried that it will
be too confusing to look at. My initial reaction when I look at the one in
Office 2007 is that it is "very busy" looking.

Our IM client, SoapBox Communicator 2007, uses a ribbion (we're using the
whole DevExpress control suite).

Almost universally, users love it. A few hate it.
