udate freezes

i had to have windows reinstalled so lost all my udates i went into
autonmatic updates and pressed the install and there were a few to be added
including sp2 but now nothing is happening with the install and trying to
check just freezes the page is there anything i can do or will it stay like
this until all have been istalled and how long will it take i am not getting
the little icon botom right to say anyhting is happening
 
I suggest turning OFF auto-update, and restarting to turn it back on.

start/run, type SYSDM.CPL , see tab for updates.
