typing in red

I'm watching my fingers type, as usual. I look up and find that the font in
my doc has turned red. Red with an underline. How to stop this? What
key/combo did I hit to make this happen?

Just highlight your font, change the color to whatever and clear the
underscore. If you don't know how to do that, use the F1 key.

Sounds like you've turned on Track Changes (probably by accidentally
typing Ctrl-Shift-E). First turn off Track Changes (either by typing
Ctrl-Shift-E, or by clicking "TRK" at the bottom of the window, or by
clicking on the last icon to the right of the Reviewing toolbar or
somewhere in the Review tab). Then, on the Reviewing toolbar next to
the blue checkmark / in the Review tab below the big "Accept Change"
icon, click the tiny down-arrow and choose "Accept All Changes."
