typing fractions

is it possible to type fractions in a more appropriate style than my current
effort - ergo 1/4 - this looks more like "one forward slash four" how can i
get to "one over four"

Thanks for taking a look at my question.

Most fonts have single-character symbols for 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 -
Insert>Symbol, look for codes 00BC thru BE. But these also have a diagonal
line. If you need a vertical spaced fraction with a horizontal line, use
Equation Editor - it's a tool you optionally may install in Office Setup. If
your installation doesn't include it, run Office Setup and choose "Add/Remove
features"
