Typing a character with a dash above it

I want to type an 'x' with a dash above, it is not in the symbols. How can I
do this?

You can do it under Microsoft Equation, with the style changed from Math to
Text (to insert Equation into Word goto Insert -> Object -> Microsoft
Equation 3.0)
