Typed URLs

Hello,

Is there a way to "edit" the typed URLs list? I would like to get rid of
mistyped URLs so they don't appear in the dropdown list, without losing all
of them (don't want to clear the entire history).

TIA

If they are really TypedUrls, then edit them in the Registry (with
care)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs]

If they are not really TypedUrls, then you may be able to highlight
them when they drop down and press Delete.

Clear the Internet Explorer Typed Address History (All Windows) Popular
Internet Explorer caches any URLs that are typed into the address bar. This may
become a privacy issue on a shared computer, or a nuisance if there is a
particular URL you want to remove without clearing the whole history.

Hi Al;phonse - To delete ALL Addresses in the Drop Down list, go here and
download and install Mike Burgess' DelTypedURL.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm See below for Selective Delete.

You can also get DelSearchMRU.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelSearchMRU.inf

Note: this does not remove entries entered via AutoComplete. To remove
hidden AutoComplete entries in History:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm#AutoComplete

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure that ALL instances of IE6 are CLOSED before you do
the install of this (these) .inf files. Otherwise the "old" entries will
just be re-written back to the Registry when you close IE.

A nice alternative just for selective or all Address (not Search) history
maintenance is EditURLs, here: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/ Here also,
you must close ALL instances of IE6 for the deletions to "take".

Since there are only 25 slots a simple thing to do is add 25
less remarkable entries. E.g. enter about:1 about:2 etc.

Notice that if you try a Registry modification you may have to ensure
that iexplore.exe is not an active process or all your changes could
be lost as soon as it finally saves its active list. (It's easy to observe
that the list of URLs shown when you press F4 is not the same list
that you can see in the registry so I think it is unlikely that iexplore.exe
would be "listening" for changes within the subkey.)
