Two Users, Seperate Accounts Problem

W

Wiliam L. Butcher

New computer this week with Vista. Set up two separate accounts for e-mail
after learning that Windows Mail no longer used the identities system for
operating seperate accounts but endorsed the seperate account for privacy
and other reasons. Sounds good, but all sent and received mail goes through
only one of the accounts and that is certainly not private. For some reason
Windows designates one or the other account as (default) and I presume that
is the reason why all goes through one account. If the (default) is the
reason for the problem how do I eliminate it? If that is not the problem,
how can I arrange for each of the account users to send and receive mail in
their own account?

You need to contact your ISP and establish individual
email addresses, user names and passwords for each account.

All accounts in Windows Mail will use the same Inbox.

This is a program to add Identities to Windows Mail.

The easiest and least expensive way to do this is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail (WLM). WLM sets up separate folders for
each account. Instead of sending from the default account, it
sends from the identity associated with the account folder
you are currently in.

If you really need the privacy, you can set up each account
under a different Windows user.

Please tell us when you mean Windows User account and when you mean mail
account.

If you have 'separate' email addresses that are actually aliases for the
same mailbox on the server then the first one who checks will get all the
mail. This is usually the case with those free email addresses from your
ISP.

Use Mozilla Thunderbird, works a treat...
