My Dell E1505 laptop keeps getting pop up messages like the following:

When in Outlook, sitting for a while without use, popup...
The instruction at "oxoooaf468" referenced memory at "oxoooaf468". The
memory could not be "written". Click ok to terinate the program.

Was trying to find Shared Pictures on wireless internet connection to laptop
and got the following message
The instruction at "ox73e68d90" referenced memory at "oxoooooooo". The
memory could not be "written". Click ok to terminate program.

I'm concerned about all these memory popups. They have been going on for a
while and I've ignored them but realize I'm about to a year on this laptop
and am concerned I may have serious memory problem...especially with IO Sys
error mentioned in a previous post.

Reading your posts ("...XP IO System Verification Error...") I think
you may have a serious hardware problem wirh RAM memory.
Did you make any RAM tests? Test should take at least few hours.
You may use MemTest86 - http://www.memtest86.org or
Windows Memory Diagnostic - http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

I am not computer literate to try what you suggest..so I called Dell Support
since I have warranty. They ran tests from 9:45 am to 4:30 pm...including
memory. They said I did not have to have separate CD or download to check
the memory on an inspirion E1505...that is has a built in memory
check...memory and hard drive and ChkDsk all passed. So now they want to
have me reinstall Win XP which will wipe out all of my data, setups for
email, wireless networking, etc. which I paid to have all set up. What is
your opinion as to reinstalling Win XP. The Dell Certified Rep who installed
my whole set up says he doesn't think that can be the probelm. I have
requsted a manager call me to have an onsite repair since I paid for that
service....they just DO WANT TO to that!

I do not know what diagnostic tools are included in Dell's software.
I've always used tools I suggested - IMO they are just reliable.

Sometimes system reinstall is the only way to recover system. I don't
know if it is the best way in your case. I don't know if test that were
made are really reliable. If errors are not caused by hardware
malfunction it's also possible that there is some driver or other
application in your system that works. Have you installed some new
software or new device drivers lately? Before making system reinstall IMO
it's good to check all possible paths. How system works in safe mode?

Do you have enough patience to examine that issue or just wont to go the
short way (repair by service)? ;)
