Two CPU's reported

Hello,
In the System Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Processors I see two
identical CPU's installed.
I have tried uninstalling one of them. When asked tm reboot I do only to
find the two reported again.
I have an Intel P4 2.8GHZ with HT technology, 1MB cache. The M/B is an ASUS
P4P800 deluxe.
The OS is Windows XP Home.
Thanks.
Regards,
Bart

XP Home supports hyper-threading (HT technology) which creates 2 logical (or
virtual) processors which share the workload.

So, when the processor has HT technology enabled, 2 identical logical
processors will be seen by the device manager and other system tools.

hope that helps

Bart;
HT = Hyper Threading
That is why you have one processor and show 2.
Normal for your configuration.

Why are you trying to uninstall one when you really don't know what you are
doing?

Leave it alone for it is normal and correct in your situation!
