Twice the same printer but with different settings

Hi,
Maybe an unusual question, but here it is.
I'd like to install my desktop printer twice but with different preference
settings.
- once for high quality prints and single sided
- once for draft quality prints and recto verso

I have tried to install my printer a second time, with a different name, and
with different settings.
But the second one does never print anything and returns a printing error.

Is there something that I should know here ?

Thanks on beforehand.

It would only be possible if the unit is NOT hard coded with a unique ID.
If it has the hard code, then XP and Vista will see only that you have tried
to install it twice, but it knows that it's the same printer.

Hi Cari
Thanks for your answer, but I think that you stopped typing your answer
half-way :)).
It is still not clear to me why that second printer does not want to print !
I am not an IT-specialist - so please try to explain in human language if
you don't mind.
I only want to know if it is/should be possible.
- If it is not possible - is it a Vista bug or not ?
- If it should be possible - how can I make it work ?
Thank you so much !!!!
