TV tuner for Vista laptop?

J

just bob

I would like to test the capabilities of Media Center for Vista Ultimate so
I need TV tuner hardware for a Dell D830 laptop which has USB, firewire and
PCMCIA interfaces. Can someone suggest decent hardware for under $200?

Many thanks in advance!

I have a Hauppauge! WinTV-HVR 950 (980?) that plugs into a USB port. It was
about $100.
A laptop I tried it on did not have a powerful enough processor to make use
of it. A 1.4 Ghz Celeron.
It works fine on my Pentium 4 2.6Ghz (with HT) desktop computer.

Just for information,I bought a Pinnacle (50e I think) a few years ago in a
supermarket.

By the time I had discovered that it was compatible with any OS provided
it's XP with no service packs, it was too late to take it back to the shop.
I don'tknow whether it was a set-p job between P and Franc's leading
supermarket chain. If you buy Pinnacle and it doesn't work, don't expect any
support.

Another thing, don't buy analog unless you expect it to last as long as
Vista. Some countries will no longer be broadcasting analog by the time
newly purchased equipment is ready for the dump.

Regards
