Turnoff Startup sound

I have my computer set to dual boot to XP or Vista.
After I select Vista it plays the startup sound THEN it goes to the login
screen. I have disabled all sounds and this has not been fixed. What else
can I do?
Also I dont have this problem with XP.

You want to disable the "welcome" sound?

Control Panel|SOUND|SOUNDS tab. UNcheck the box.

Did you notice that I said the sound was before the select user login screen?
I have already tried it with no sounds at all and that does not effect that
part.

There is a custom check box specifically for the start up sound under all
the other sound features. This became present only in builds after RC1.
